Who: Grades K-5 are Invited!

When: This club will meet weekly in the Media Center afterschool in the Media Center on Wednesdays for the entire school year.

Why: Teaching the game of chess and other important life skills such as sportsmanship, problem solving, critical thinking, concentration and patience is the purpose of this seriously FUN chess club. Trophies are awarded to all participants!

Lit Blitz

Contact Person or People: Kay De Steinhour

The mission of Lit Blitz is to ignite a passion for reading in our students through a better understanding of excellent literature. Lit Blitz book club is open to 2nd and 3rd graders, and meets twice a month in the cafeteria. One meeting is an informal book talk meeting, and the other meeting is a competition called a skirmish. Meetings are from 3:15-4:00.

Sparrow Hawks Service Club

This is an after-school club for 5th graders who would like to be involved with school and community projects, such as a canned food drive, toy drive, making holiday cards for service men and women, promoting energy conservation, campus beautification, recycling and advertising school activities.

Pertinent Information

The mission of the PMES Student Council is to identify and develop young leaders. Fourth and fifth grade students may participate in Student Council. Members are elected by their peers in August. Student Council meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30am in the Music Room. Meeting dates for the 2010-2011 are as follows:

9/2, 10/7, 11/4, 12/2, 1/6, 2/3, 3/3, 5/5

Club name: The National Jr. Beta Club

The National Jr. Beta Club is the nation's largest independent, educational, non-profit, youth organization. Our purpose is to encourage and reward academic achievement, and to promote those qualities of character that make for good citizenship. Students who are working at or above grade level and show creditable academic achievement, worthy character, good mentality, and commendable attitude may be invited to join The National Jr. Beta Club at Puckett's Mill. Prospective 5th graders will be invited in the fall of 2010.


Lego Robotics Club

Robotics engage students in the areas of advanced engineering, technology, science and math.  This club utilizes LEGO®  NXT educational kits and computers for programming. 

Who: Students in Grades 4-5

When:  This club will meet weekly in the Media Center after-school (3:00-4:00) in the Media Center on Mondays starting in January for six weeks.

Why: Science, Math, Technology and Engineering all wrapped up in one club, the answer is WHY NOT?  Students will build team skills, learn basic computer programming and build seriously awesome robots.

How to Sign Up: Registration information will be posted on the website in December. The fee is to be announced. Students must have a B average or higher in Math and Science as well as a teacher recommendation to participate.
